House Confinement

Priests in Shanghai

Stamford, Connecticut, U.S.A. - The Cardinal Kung Foundation, an advocate of the underground Roman Catholic Church in China, has learned today that many priests belonging to the underground Roman Catholic Church in Shanghai have been ordered by the authorities to stay home until further notice. "This confinment order coincides with the U. S. religious delegation currently visiting in China." Mr. Joseph Kung, the president of the Cardinal Kung Foundation, said "Due to the timing of the order, the government's intention of this confinement order is blatantly apparent."
